A huge congratulations to Angel Jack, a junior, who has been selected to represent the entire state of Alaska at the 2025 Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference in Washington, D.C.
The prestigious, all-expenses-paid program will be held June 22–27 and gathers top high school journalists from across the country. Angel’s selection highlights her commitment to the field of journalism and her potential as a future leader in the world of media.
Hosted by the Freedom Forum, the conference was founded in honor of Al Neuharth, creator of USA TODAY, the Newseum, and the Freedom Forum itself. The event is designed to inspire and empower high school students who are passionate about journalism and the First Amendment.
As part of the program, Angel will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward the college of her choice. She’ll also participate in professional workshops, network with media leaders, and attend the Freedom Forum’s Free Expression Awards—a major event celebrating champions of free speech—on June 25.
Angel’s selection is not only a personal achievement but also a proud moment for Angoon High School, showcasing the talent, ambition, and voice coming out of our small but resilient community.
Let's cheer for Angel!
