A group of high school students will be traveling to Hawaii mid-November for a culture exchange. Students attending the 2021 High School EthnoMath STEM Institute will be immersed in engaging, culturally-relevant, and innovative learning experiences. Peer interactions will form interpersonal connections that will build relationships between Alaskan and Hawaiian youth; and will cultivate a robust student learning community in preparation for the Moananuiākea Voyage launch in 2022 from Juneau, Alaska. Additionally, the institutes design will create a template for Indigenous students united by the Pacific Ocean to collaborate and grow together.
